An
overflowing parking lot greeted anyone who was a little bit late
coming to CCS Thursday night for the Open House / Spaghetti Supper.
Thank you to all who supported the event and were on hand to see all
the hard work that went in to preparing classrooms, hallways and
more for the annual event. Many teachers and students put in hours
of hard work preparing for your visit. There was a roving
photographer on hand catching some of the action in the hallways
(thanks Joshua). He did say it was hard getting around in the
elementary wing doe to the crowds but that is a good thing. Thanks
again parents and family for making CCS such an amazing school.

Your
CCS Jeopardy team had to go through a last minute roster change but
they emerged victorious at the First Annual Jeopardy Team Challenge
to benefit Project Literacy. The questions were taken from many
categories including literature, sports, history, science and
general trivia. Points were awarded for correct answers and were
taken away for incorrect responses. The team won each game by over
100 points. Congratulations to team members Brian Ashline, Catherine
Decosse (thanks for coming through at the last minute), Cassondra
Whyte and Ben Trombley. There are not many pictures since the
"action" involved pushing buttons.

On
Saturday, November 14, five students from CCS will be competing in
the "Ultimate Trivia Challenge" sponsored by the Literacy Volunteers
of Essex/Franklin Counties. This will be a Jeopardy-like
competition between CCS, Salmon River, Brushton, Malone, and St.
Regis Falls. This is a fund-raiser for Literacy Volunteers, so there
will be a small charge to attend the event. Competition takes place
at the Wead Library in Malone and starts at noon and will last until
2:30 or 3:00. Please come and support the CCS Bulldog team: Brian
Ashline, Margaret Empsall, Lynn Leach, Ben Trombley, and Cassie
Whyte. Thanks for your support!
There were only a few costumes/skits in this year's 7-12 Halloween Contest, but there were some good ones. First place this year was the Nerd Squad (Brittany, Kayla, Rachel and Marissa) - Second Place was Dakota as Jimmy Hendrix and rounding out the top three was my personal favorite Alex dressed as Lt. Dangle from Reno 911 (I love that show). Great job to all who participated including the amazing video from the 8th grade general music class. Hats off to Mr. Scheiber! PICTURES
This
year's senior play was a success. The general consensus is that this
year's senior play was among the best ever. From the costumes to the
acting to the special effects and music the play was well done.
Directors Miss Pickering and Mrs. Nemier-Green should be proud of
the accomplishment and of the production. Thanks also to everyone
who supported the play by supplying food for the bake sale. And a
big thank you to all who attended the weekend performances. The
Class of 2010 thanks you for all the support. But really what you
want are
PICTURES right? You are welcome!
For reasons many of you know I did not create a dance page for this year's October dance. I did make sure that pictures were taken and I did get the cameras. I will try to make up something a little more special in the coming days but for now - BATCH 1 and BATCH 2. Thanks to all involved who took the pictures and made sure I was able to get at least this much done for you.
Last
year at the Color Wars games the senior class was upset by the 8th
graders. This year those same 8th grade students returned as 9th
graders and nearly did it again. The senior class won the opening
day games by one point. It was the capper to another great first day
of school. Thanks goes to the Student Council members for their hard
work and judging (although I am not too sure about Eli). We hope
everyone has a great year. Welcome back. Onto the pictures -
a batch from Stephen Bernier and a
few from me.
Well...not all of them, just the 7th graders. Before school reopens for all students the 7th graders were treated to a special day to help them ease into life in the high school wing of the building. They followed an abbreviated schedule, had a chance to meet all the teachers, ate a picnic lunch and played some fun games. Once again the weather was amazing, the students were energetic and enthusiastic. The high school staff looks forward to working with this new class. I think you can see how much fun everyone had in the PICTURES.
Many thanks to all who participated in the interview and hiring process. Joining us in the high school are Mr. Seymour who was appointed to the 7-12 Social Studies position, Mr. Scheiber as the new Vocal Music Teacher and Mr. Kresge as the new language instructor. Another new face in the whole building is Mr. Goggins who was hired to replace the man with one name - Harold. We look forward to meeting these new faces when school begins in a few weeks.
By now most of you know that Mr. Trudo has left CCS for a new job and you all knew that Mrs. Deans left for a job closer to home. Some of you finally heard that Mr. Quinn retired. This means many new faces in the high school. Once all the positions have been filled we will post the information. Hope you have a great summer.
