It
was a circus in the auditorium Friday morning for Kindergarten
graduation. The students in Mrs. Cartier's and Mrs. McCormick's
classes performed a number of skits relating to the circus. There
was a lot of great music, some wonderful dancing and some of the
best costumes we have seen in quite a while. After the groups each
performed they joined together for a rousing version of "New York"
with lyrics changed to reflect their move into 1st grade. Mrs.
Trombley had a small musical group perform while the students
reassembled to line up and get back on stage to receive their
diplomas. There are two sets of pictures here.
The SHOW and the
The Diplomas. The pictures will also be added
to the school's
Shutterfly gallery if you would like to purchase
any. Congratulations to all the kindergarten students and their
teachers for a wonderful morning performance.
Students
in grade K-6 participated in an End of Year Sing Along. Each class
sang a special song that was fun and educational. It was also a warm
up of sorts for the kindergarten students who will be performing
Friday morning for friend and family at their graduation. It is test
week in the high school so I had to have help with the pictures and
Mrs. Trombley and Mr. Breault did a great job making sure that this
event was covered.

Although
the final numbers are not in, there was a huge turnout for the first
run of the Jump Rope for Heart event at CSS. Elementary students
collected donations from all over the community and had a ball
jumping rope in the gym Wednesday afternoon. There were many
stations waiting for them from free style to speed jumping to double
dutch and more. The afternoon ended with a hue dance and some door
prizes. Thanks go out to the high school helpers, all the donors and
a special nod to Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds for their hard work. But the
real heroes this afternoon are all the students who collected
donations for a worthy cause, the American Heart Association.
Pictures - there are a few surprises in here.
Students
in grades 3-6 will be participating in the "Jump Rope for Heart"
fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association. The students
have sponsor sheets and can earn great prizes as they earn money for
a great cause. You can learn more about the program by checking
THIS WEBSITE. Thanks to Mrs. Reynolds for the
information and for her hard work on behalf of this cause.

One of the special trips students at CCS take each year is a journey down the road the House of History in Malone. Mrs. Jones' 4th grade class recently made the trip. They learned quite a bit and had a chance to try their hands at a few of the projects. Thanks for the PICTURES. (I bet Mrs. Fowler is wondering how I got them)
AS
many of you know, April 22 is Earth Day and the students at CCS
participated in a number of special activities in honor of the day.
Many of the Science Club members worked in the elementary classes
teaching and reading about Earth Day. The Science Club also began a
recycling project to help with the many water and sport drink
bottles that have been building in the trash. Thanks to all who took
some photos.

Quest.
Queen. Quail. Quiznos. Quick. Quack. Quadrant. Quixotic. Quiz. Quit
it already I know. Today was the annual kindergarten ceremony where
the letters Q and U are joined in wedlock. You know what this means
right? Cute pictures of the ceremony, the dancing and the snacks.
Now how come we cannot seem to remember any of these words when we
are playing Scrabble?

I received a batch of pictures in my mailbox from this past weekend. Apparently there are some future all star basketball players taking the court for some Biddy Basketball. I heard that they had a successful game despite no having many practices. Thanks for the pictures.
For
a while it appeared like the weather would not cooperate but in the
end the annual elementary ski trip was a success once again. The
high school ski club members were on hand to teach elementary
student in grades 4-6 how to handle the slopes. Judging from the
pictures everyone had a great time. Emily Jackson was able to take
pictures and I am sure I will get some more from other sources. For
new enjoy these

There is more story here than I know but I can say that Mr. Walley worked with a special group of students and a man in a bright red suit. I think I will let the pictures tell the story. Projects being built....Presents being delivered.
Mrs. Swanston's Spanish V class were pleased to invite Mrs. Smith's and Mrs. Flaherty's 1st grade classes to make Ojos de Dios. The children worked hard to make these Christmas Ornaments. ¡Qué diversión! (not sure about that last bit there...I think is says something about doing long division. Of course I always see things through math colored glasses) Pictures
Just
about all your favorite Christmas songs were performed this morning
at the annual Winter Song Along Concert. Each grade sang a
song or two from kindergarten right up to 6th grade. There was a
special brass trio performance and the 5th grade band members made
their debut with Saint Nick Salsa. There were many Santa hats, a few
reindeer and even a Grinch or two. Thanks to all the performers,
Miss Calnon and Mrs. Trombley. Have a safe and happy Holiday
Season.

Ok,
so it's like this...a great punch of pictures featuring the students
involved in the mentoring program was delivered to my desk for
posting on the website. I love it when I do not have to take the
pictures so I excitedly said I would get them up. Then I
looked at them. Once again cooking has gone on in the building
and I did not get a thing. Look at me folks, I obviously eat a
cookie now and then (perhaps what you are all saying is that I
should stop). Either way, who can resist cute kids making cookies.
Thanks Mrs. Jaggers for the

The
elementary students and their teachers have been very busy over the
past several weeks. Some have been in the
science wing of the high school working with
Mrs. Gratto and Mrs. Harrigan. Others
learned about
Thanksgiving traditions and just about everyone
had a hand in getting the school ready for
Open House
last month. Soon all the students will be
performing at their Winter concert and again during the Sing-Along
on December 21.
It is said that laughter is the best medicine. If that is
indeed true then we have some
very healthy students at CCS. Students in grades K-6 were
treated to a special assembly featuring some clowns, some juggling,
some pies in the face and a lot of laughter. Thanks to Mr. Picaro
from SUNY Potsdam and his students: Rebecca Adams, Vaughan Thompson,
David Guagliano, Dan Erdmann, Kalie Mayer, Erin Harrington, Erin
Kramack and Lawrence Brewer. Thanks also to Mrs. Stumpf for taking
the pictures. Not only did the performers entertain the
elementary students but they put on a special performance for the
5th grade classes who were taking a state test during the main
event.

I am actually not quite sure how the song goes but I suspect the students in Mrs. Flaherty's class may know the answer. A short time ago they ventured into the high school wing to Mrs. Harrigan's room to learn a bit about the skeletal system. Thanks to Mrs. Gratto for the pictures.
After
many days of rotten weather the skies turned blue and the
temperature warmed up for the annual Halloween Parade.
Students in grades K-6 marched through the hallways and out into the
community where they were greeted by friends and family members. We
had a few cameras covering the action and I think over 600 photos
taken by Hannah Kinney, Hannah Hanover and Mrs. Trombley. The
galleries are large and will take some time to browse but it is
worth it.

Riding to and from school on a school bus is a privilege. It is also
a necessity for our children who live in the outlying areas of our
North Country school district. At Chateaugay, we have an extremely
qualified group of bus drivers who take the immense responsibility
they have in transporting your child to school very seriously.
This month each bus driver has awarded School Bus Rider of the Month
Certificate to a group of students who make it safe for themselves
and others to ride the bus. These awards are for both elementary and
high school students. The high school students have been extremely
helpful to our youngest riders.
| Bus Driver | Slot | Bus # | Student |
| Marie Doria | 2 | 94 | Chelsea Legacy |
| Allan Hill | 3 | 93 | Ben Roulston |
| Marie Cook | 4 | 92 | John Selkirk |
| Dean Blaisure | 5 | 86 | Emily Trombley |
| Mike O'Conner | 6 | 88 | Kara Taylor |
| Les Howard | 7 | 91 | Kimberly Robbins |
| Earl Cowan | 8 | 82 | Christopher Cook |
| Carolyn Healey | 9 | 89 | Danny Wilcox |
| William Soucia | 9 | 90 | Colby Woodward |
| Brian Soucia | 10 | 87 | Emily Lawrence |
Each bus driver honored a student for exemplary behavior on the bus!
There are two important rules to discuss with your child for the
upcoming month.
1. When you board the bus, sit in the seat your bus driver has
assigned you.
2. Stay in your assigned seat until you arrive at home or school.
September
26, 2007 - Fall means shorter days, colorful leaves and, for
kindergarten students, a trip to learn about apples. This year the
students traveled to the Les Verges Blair Apple Orchard. There they
learned all about apples and had a chance to enjoy some apples for a
snack. The weather was amazing and, judging by all the smiles, the
trip was a huge success. Thanks to all the chaperones who helped
with this trip. I think I would like to volunteer for a "C" trip
which can only be for chocolate...right??? I hope!

One
new idea this year was to have elementary rooms open for parents and
students prior to the first day of school. The informal orientation
gave all who were interested a chance to find the classrooms their
children would be attending. Many turned out to see the rooms
and spend a brief moment with the teachers. Please note that
parent informational meetings will be held on Tuesday, September
11th beginning at 6:30. Hope to see you there. Mrs.
Fowler took a moment to grab a few pictures of the families in
attendance last week.

Please be aware that Double Dismissal time is considered part of the regular school day. If your teacher requests that your child stay for double, it is because important academic intervention has been planned for your child. Please do not schedule any appointments during this time.
