As with every time one of the teams makes it to the Final Four I will try and post helpful links and stories so you can stay on top of all the action. If you have a link to share, please email it to me. ( atromble@mail.fehb.org ). Good Luck Ladies!!
Schedule - Information - this is from the
official website for NYS Sports
PostStar - they are promising live blogs and updates
throughout the game with video clips, pictures and more.
Pictures - I found an online gallery with some
recent pictures you can buy (Mr. Green's are better though)
I do not know if Section X Sports will stream the game live - If you
hear anything, please let me know.
It was thrilling and I only heard it on the
streaming connection. I cannot imagine what it was like to be
present in the Potsdam gym as the CCS Volleyball team kept their
cool to win another trip to the Final Four. 3 of the 4 games played
were very close and easily could have gone either way, but in the
end our CCS team came out on top. Congratulations to the whole team,
the coaches and thank you to all the fans who showed their support.
Another big thank you to Mr. Green for all the pictures.
PICTURES
I
have pictures from two big wins today (thanks to Mr. Green). The
first batch is from the volleyball win which brought them another
Section X title and the other from the Girls' Varsity soccer team
which was also a Section X championship game. Congratulations to all
the teams.
VOLLEYBALL -
SOCCER
Here is what I do not like about soccer - you can play hard all game, have the most shots on goal, beat the opponents to the ball most of the game, dominate on both ends of the field, and still lose. This is what happened Friday night. A great season of soccer came to an end in a 1-0 loss. The Boys' Varsity Soccer team had a great season but they came up a bit short. Thanks to all the players for a great season and thanks once again to Mr. Green for these PICTURES.
Today there are two batches of pictures from Mr. Green. One group is from the Varsity Girls' playoff win in Potsdam last night (Oct 29) and the other is from Tuesday night's boys' game. Thanks Mr. Green and congratulations to both teams. Best of luck in the rest of the playoffs. Congratulations also to the volleyball team. We have not forgotten you! GIRLS' GAME - BOYS' GAME
It
took both overtime periods and a shoot out but the Varsity Boy's
Soccer team came away with a win in the first round of the playoffs.
They dominated play for most of the game but could find the net
until Ian Henderson knocked one in half way through the second half.
The loan goal scored by the opponents came from a loose ball. In the
end it was the shoot goal from Jacob Layton that was the difference.
Fleury kept 3 balls from scoring which proved enough as the Bulldogs
connected on 3 out of their 5 shots. I only have a few pictures
because I get a little wimpy in the cold. I am sure we will have
more from Mr. Green soon.
PICTURES
It
was not the best weather for a big playoff game, but that did not
stop the Varsity Girls' Soccer team from racking up another playoff
win in Potsdam. It was a convincing 7-0 win for the team as they
ride some momentum into the postseason. Thanks to Mr. Green we have
some great pictures. When you see him, please thank him. Taking out
his gear in weather that bad is something I am not sure I would do
but he does it for you. Here are over 500 pictures from the win.
PICTURES
I received a request for some high resolution pictures from the volleyball team. I put together a few of the pictures I thought you might want to download and print. HIGH RESOLUTION PICTURES
Thanks again to Mr. Green we have more soccer pictures and more volleyball pictures including some pictures from the weekend modified tournament held here at CCS. Thanks again Mr. Green - Soccer/Volleyball - Modified Volleyball
Oct.
16, 2009 - Sometimes you don't realize something until you see it.
On senior night for the volleyball team I saw it. Nine seniors were
honored at the final home game of the year. Nine. That is a whole
lot of talent and dedication that has been the backbone of a team
that has dominated the sport in this area for the past several
years. Thank you to all the girls and their families. I have
pictures from the JV and Varsity games as well the senior
presentations. If anyone wants a high resolution picture from the
presentation please
email me. Congratulations.
PICTURES
Also, there are some pictures from the Varsity Girls Soccer game
also held Friday night.
PICTURES! - Congratulations on a great come
from behind win.
Finally, I am adding a few pictures that Joshua took. He is learning
to take pictures and he did a pretty good job.
PICTURES
I
was not brave enough to take my camera out in the cold weather, but
Mr. Green was on hand once again for another great set of pictures
from the recent Varsity Girls' win against Madrid-Waddington. Thanks
to his bravery there are over 600 photos for you to look through.
PICTURES
I received a few more DVDs from Mr. Green with a ton of pictures from some recent games. When you see him on the sidelines with his camera, please take a moment to thank him for his time. Taking the pictures is nice enough, but taking the time to burn the to a DVD and get that to me in school is above and beyond the call. People like him make the site so much better. Girls' Soccer - Boys' Soccer
Thanks to Mr. Green I can share some photos from a recent volleyball and girls' soccer match. I think he likes taking pictures more than I do. VOLLEYBALL - SOCCER - WARNING - the soccer file has 1,000 pictures - yes, one thousand!
Thanks to the Conners family we have a few pictures to share from the recent game in Massena. PICTURES
Everything was packed on the bus for the road trip to Malone except the goals. A defensive battle yielded a few offensive chances but no goals for the Bulldogs. Neither team was able to find the back of the net although there was one shot that hit the post for the Huskies. But what you really want are pictures. For something a little different I cropped the photos pretty tight. I think they came out pretty well. Hope you like them. PICTURES
When I left the JV Volleyball team was 2 points away from taking the second game from Tupper Lake. I was going to stay a bit longer but I have been promised a great match next week so I will camp out for the night and catch both teams. But my motives were more selfish. I have the news lens and I wanted to test it out for a bit. I have to tinker with it a but I do have some pretty good shot from the game. Hope you like these PICTURES
Another
hard fought battle at the CCS field lead to another win for the
varsity boys' soccer team. They beat the visiting Madrid-Waddington
team 2-0. The first goal came off a long king from Alex Stalter to a
great header shot by Zach Matthews that enabled Eli Franze to get
the tip in for a goal. The second goal came from a direct kick from
Darrius Merril who opted to slyly back up the ball to a waiting
Jacob Layton who punched it home in the second half. Great job. Next
up: two road games. One at Saranac and one against FA in Malone. By
the way look for the picture where the visiting goalie is not really
playing the ball. A missed call?
PICTURES
It
was a tale of two different fortunes on the soccer fields Friday
night. The JV and Modified Boys' teams were both down to the
visiting Salmon River squads at half time. The JV team took over the
second half of their match and came away with a win. The modified
boys had a hard time finding the net and lost their match. Both
games were exciting to watch and I had a hard time keeping up with
the action. There are over 15o pictures with some key moments. Look
for the hit Michael Boyea took near the net, which lead to a penalty
shot which in turn lead to a rebound goal and a momentum boost. You
will also see Patrick Gordon's shot that tied up the modified game.
Congrats to both teams for playing hard and never giving up.
PICTURES
It was billed as the match of the season and it pretty good, but the Varsity Volleyball team defeated FA on their home turf in three straight games. I have a few pictures, but since I am relegated to the bleachers at away games I did not take many....but I did get permission to get a new lens....I hope it works. PICTURES
One
loan goal was enough for the Boys' Varsity Soccer team to beat the
visiting Colton team. But two goals were not enough for the modified
team. A cross from Alex Stalter to a charging Tyler Patnode
accounted for the only point in the varsity match. However, the CCS
boys peppered the goalie with over 30 shots. They just had a hard
time finding the back of the net. The modified team struck first but
they could not hold off the MUCH larger Colton team. When you see
the pictures you will swear that the modified team was playing a
varsity team. Their goalie was taller than Fleury. However, the much
smaller team almost pulled out the win. There are 2 batches on
pictures...one from
ME and one from
Mrs. T.
Which
sport? Volleyball? Soccer? How about both? The soccer team beat St.
Regis Falls 3-0 and the Volleyball team beat Brushton-Moira in
straight games. Another successful evening for the CCS teams. The
soccer team was able to move the ball around the field quite well
but they had a hard time finding the net. Two of the goals did not
come until the second half, but there were opportunities all game
long. The volleyball team worked on moving the ball around a bit
more and looking for more ways to score. Many of the players were
staling the net looking for a chance to spike home a point. Congrats
to the all the teams.
Here are some pictures from both events. And if
you see Mrs. Trombley, tell her I really need that new lens.
Two
tough games against Parishville made for an entertaining afternoon
of soccer at CCS Tuesday night. The JV team won their game (although
I did not catch the final score). I did hear quite often that they
were standing still. Coach LaPlante has some lungs. The varsity boys
battled back after being down 1-0 to tie their game. They had to
turn to overtime and although there were some chances they could not
find the net again. It was a defensive battle for both teams.
Remember, you can help out the site by submitting photos of your
own. Here are about
200 pictures from both games.
Opening
the season with a win is always a good thing. The Boys' Varsity
Soccer team picked up a 2-0 win against Malone Friday night. A
potential third goal was waived off due to an off-sides call. As
always I will try to make at least one game for each team. Please
feel to submit your own pictures. I also have a camera or two that
can be borrowed for a home game. Here are
the pictures from the 2-0 victory over the
Huskies. Look for one with Darrius seemingly bending his legs in
ways that should not be possible.
The fall sports schedule is still in the finalizing process. For continued up to the minute changes seen by all Athletic Directors, Coaches and Section X Officials check out http://www.digitalsports.com/school/id/4975.aspx
