Visual Art Happenings

octoberartOctober 20, 2009 - 1st Quarter Fun in Art Class
5th Grade Students have been exploring the color wheel and working with warm and cool colors to make beautiful non-objective paintings. This multi-media project has been fun for the students and the results are fantastic.
7th Grade students Mikey Campbell and Ben Watson take nylon sculptures to a whole new level. 7th grade Studio Art students have been learning about Pablo Picasso and are making nylon/wire sculptures of faces in Picasso’s cubist style. Look for these amazing sculptures on display in the art room on the night of Open House, November 19th.
High School Studio Art students have been spending the last few weeks learning to draw using a grid. Students are using pencil to create realistic portraits which look incredible.  Thanks Miss Smith for the great PICTURES

Art Trip

Miss Smith took her 10th grade art students on a special trip to Montreal this past week for a filed trip. The students were given a chance to see a number of great exhibits and to develop a better appreciation for art in the world. She took a few snapshots and Mr. Brown also borrowed a camera - but the battery died early on so he did not get many pictures.  PICTURES

Works of Art

As parents, friends and guests entered the school for the Spring Elementary and Junior High Concert Wednesday night they were greeted by an display of artwork. Ms. Smith along with some great helping hands put up a great display of artwork created by students at CCS from kindergarten to 12th grade. On hand were many wonderful paintings, drawing, sculptures and much more. Great job Ms. Smith and to all the students. Pictures
